What is the online Medical English for Health Professionals course?
The Medical English for Health Professionals course is designed for practising doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals who need to communicate effectively with English-speaking patients. It is a short, practical, interactive course designed to boost your confidence and help you interact effectively in English with patients who communicate with you in English. It also includes attending medical conferences at the Advanced level.

How do you improve your English and ability to communicate in a medical context?
The course is available at three levels: Basic (A1 – A2), Intermediate (B1), and Advanced (B2 – C1). Each level is divided into 6 sections. Each section focuses on a particular area of using English in a medical context e.g. Prescribing treatment and giving therapeutic information. First, language is presented in a typical medical situation e.g. a scene in a consultancy. You then focus on the useful language, practise it, and use it in a series of interactive exercises. In this way, you remember the language, know how to use it, and can apply it to your personal medical context.
If you sign up for a Premium course, you can also practise using the language with your tutor in the speaking tutorials. And you can send your tutor written work to be corrected in the writing tutorials.
What will you have achieved at the end of the course?
You will feel more confident about communicating in English in medical contexts. You will also know and be able to use appropriate language to express what you want to say in a medical context.
What is the difference between the Essential and the Premium versions of the course?
In the Essential version of the course, you have access to a self-study interactive version of the course. You also have access to additional resources and tools on the Net Languages platform.
In the Premium version, you are assigned a personal English tutor in addition to the self-study interactive course. You will have speaking tutorials with your tutor and you will send your tutor writing tutorials to be corrected. You can also ask your tutor any questions you have about the course. You can book each speaking tutorial for a convenient day and time using the calendar on the platform.
How many tutorials are included in the Premium modules?
There are two writing tutorials and two speaking tutorials in each level. Each speaking tutorial is a 25-minute conversation with your tutor. You can book your speaking tutorials with your tutor on their calendar. If you want to do more speaking tutorials, you can add extra speaking tutorials to your subscription when you purchase the course.
