What does the online General English course cover?
Are you looking for a flexible interactive English course to help you improve your level of English? Our online General English AI course is designed for people who want to improve their overall level of English in a flexible way. Through carefully structured exercises, you will work on your Listening in English, your Writing in English, your Speaking in English and your Reading in English. You will also improve your English Grammar, your English Vocabulary, your Functional English e.g. giving advice, asking for help, inviting etc. and your English Pronunciation.
Each complete level of the General English course contains 10 units. Each unit systematically works on all these aspects of learning English through carefully designed, interactive exercises. We have used artificial intelligence to further enhance your learning experience with speaking practice with our AI tutor, Sam and feedback for writing practice. And you can also choose to get human tutor support for live speaking tutorials and writing tutorials with our great team of English teachers.
How do you improve your speaking in the General English course?
You have lots of opportunities to practise your speaking in the General English course. You can practise your speaking with our AI tutor, Sam. Each unit contains two speaking activities to practise with Sam. You can do a roleplay, have a conversation about a topic, take part in a debate, describe something, or participate in an interview.
And, if you sign up for a tutored version of the course, we will assign you your personal English teacher and you can also practise speaking with him or her in real time. Each speaking tutorial is a 25-minute conversation which you can book on your tutor’s calendar. In the tutored version of the course there is one speaking tutorial in each unit. If you want to do more speaking tutorials, you can add extra speaking tutorials to your course when you sign up for the course.
We have also included speech recognition exercises in the course. This means you can practise your English pronunciation and speaking fluency not only with a teacher or with Sam, our AI tutor but also with interactive exercises.
How do you improve your writing in the General English course?
You can practise your English writing in different ways. You can practise your English writing and be corrected by Sam, our AI tutor. Each unit contains two writing practice activities. Sam will provide you with corrections and feedback to help you improve your writing.
Or, if you prefer, you can choose a version of the course with teacher-corrected written work. We will assign you a personal English tutor and you can send your tutor your writing tutorials. Your English tutor will send you feedback, corrections and a mark.
What level can you study?
You can study any level from the following levels on the Common European Framework:
A1: Pre-Elementary
A2: Elementary
B1: Lower Intermediate
B1+: Mid-Intermediate
B2: Upper Intermediate
B2+: Pre-Advanced
C1: Advanced
C2: Proficiency
All our levels are carefully mapped onto the Common European Framework. The levels are consecutive so when you have finished and passed a level, you can then sign up for the next level.

How many study hours do the levels include?
Each complete General English level includes approximately 100 – 120 hours of study material. A complete level corresponds to access to 10 units. You can also decide to study half a level. Half a level includes between 50 and 60 hours of study material and corresponds to 5 units of the course.

How long will you have access to your course?
You get 12 months to complete a full level and 6 months to complete half a level of a General English course. You can study as quickly or as slowly as you like within this time limit. And of course, you can access the course at any time of the day or night.
Will you get a certificate?
Yes, when you pass the course, you can download your personal certificate from the Net Languages platform. The certificate will include your name, the level you have studied, your final mark and a breakdown of your marks, the name of your tutor (tutored courses only), and the date.
