Who is the English for International Tourism course designed for?
The English for International Tourism online course is a short, compact course designed for people who need to communicate effectively with tourists in English. It is aimed at people working in hotels, in tourist information offices, in museums, as tour guides, for people who rent out accommodation to tourists, or for students of tourism.

What will you study in the English for International Tourism course?
The course is available at B1 and B2 levels.
In the B1 level you will learn how to:
Welcome people and exchange information
Give information, answer questions and give directions
Talk about local features
Describe places
Give tour information
Describe tourist activities
In the B2 level you will learn how to:
Welcome people and make small talk
Give information, clarify and offer to help
Explain local culture
Deal with a problem

How do you improve your English and ability to communicate to tourists?
Each level is divided into 6 sections. Each section is centred around a particular area of using English in a tourism context e.g. explaining a local culture. You will be exposed to language used in a typical tourist situation in a video, podcast or text. You then work on the useful language and practise it in a series of interactive exercises. This is an effective way of understanding how and when to use the language you are studying effectively.
In the Premium version of the course, you can also practise using the language with your tutor in the speaking tutorials. And you can send your writing tutorials to your tutor for their correction and feedback.
What will you have achieved at the end of the course?
At the end of the course, you will feel much more confident about communicating in English with tourists in a variety of situations at a B1 or a B2 level.
What is the difference between the Essential and the Premium versions of the course?
The Essential version of the course gives you access to the self-study version of the course. This includes approximately 20 hours of structured interactive study material.
The Premium version includes access to the self-study version and the support of an English tutor. You will practise speaking with your English tutor and you will send your tutor written work for their correction and feedback.
How many tutorials are included in the Premium modules?
There are two writing tutorials and two speaking tutorials in the Premium version of the course. Each speaking tutorial is a 25-minute conversation with your tutor so you can practise using the language you have learned with a teacher. The speaking tutorials are flexible. You can book the tutorials for a convenient day and time for you on your tutor’s calendar.
If you would like to do more speaking tutorials, you can purchase additional speaking tutorials when you sign up for the course.
What levels can you study?
You can study B1, Lower Intermediate, level or B2, Upper Intermediate, level.
